James "Jack" Rankin Jr

James Rankin, Jr. better known as Jack, has gone to be with his Lord and beloved wife, Grace on November 4, 2007 Grace preceded him in death January 2000. Funeral services will be held at the Victory Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in Katie, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home of Elmore City. Jack served in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged after the war ended in 1945. Jack married Grace Damron on January 10, 1948 and settled in Elmore City to work and raise a family. Jack made his career mostly in the oil field but also owned a gas station and raised cattle on the family farm. Jack is survived by his sister, Anna Lea Harvey of Mount Pleasant, Texas 2 sons: Charles Rankin of Moore, Oklahoma Roy Rankin of Antlers, Oklahoma 4 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren Jack was a common man with old fashion values and shared his experiences by helping his community, his neighbors and others in need. Jack supported his community and held an interim term as local judge and a couple terms as the mayor of Elmore City.
