Charles Richard Ruf

• Obituary, 2011. RUF Charles Richard Ruf passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor Ruf and his brother Ronald Ruf. He is survived by his long time best friend, Carol Ruf, daughter, Karen Ruf Mumford and her husband David Mumford, grandchildren, Ariel Chaisson and Joshua Mumford, nephew, Jason Serio, nieces, Melissa and Allison Serio, brothers in law, John Serio and Steven Brown. Charles attended Fortier High School then served in the US Coast Guard. He graduated from LSUNO in 1962. He was a manager for Traveler's Insurance for over 30 years. After retirement, he was an underwriter for LWCC. He served on the Civil War Roundtable with professor and historian, Stephen Ambrose and also contributed to the development of the World War II Museum. Charles was also longtime supporter of UNO basketball. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124), on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 1:00 pm. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National World War II Museum, 945 Magazine St., New Orleans 70130, or the UNO Alumni Association, 2000 Lakeshore Dr., New Orleans, LA 70148.

Charles married Carol Ann Serio, daughter of Salvatore C 'Sam' Serio Sr and Minnie Vera Sikes.
