"Mrs. Eliza Tison Nugent was born on December 15, 1808, and joined the Methodist Church in 1828. She was converted some time before joining the church, and live a Christian life from that hour until her death, which occurred Thursday, September 5, 1878. She was married to Edmund Nugent in 1829 and was left a widow December 12, 1841. Mrs. Nugent made a covenant with her husband to hold family prayers, and after his death kept it up until affliction debarred her from doing so. She was the mother of seven children, three of whom died in infancy, while four lived to maturity. She left only one child living, Zilpah, the wife of Benton Richardson. Mrs. Nugent waas well known to the members of the Louisiana Conference as a Christian woman and her home was the home of the preachers. "In her death the people of Grant parish suffer the loss of her example, and the church has to mourn the loss of a Mother of Israel. (Edmond Nugent was born in 1808 in Rapides, LA and died on 12 Dec 1841 in Grant Parish, LA.)  |
