Matthew Nugent family moved from NC to MS in the early to mid 1770's.

Matthew Nugent travelled from Brunswick, NC to the area of the Natchez, Adams County, MS. He brought with him his wife, Isabel Mcbray, his sons, Edmond and Matthew and his daughters Marie and Dorothy and their husbands, Gabriel Martin and Gerald Brandon.

Lived in Opelousas area during 1780's.

Moved to Rapides area about 1790.
