I heard a story passed down that said, "Solomon fought in the Civil War and that he had a brother that was killed one day after the war was over. They didn't know that the war was over yet and he was up cooking breakfast when he was shot." The name of the brother was unknown.
I think it may be likely that the story was about George Solomon Murry and his brother killed may have been James L Murry. James L Murry was in the 17th Regiment with George Solomon and William Jasper. No info is found on James L after the war.
UPDATE: Wayne Barrett remembers stories about Uncle Luther that died at the end of the war probably at or near Vicksburg, MS. He had thought that he got sick instead of shot. This Uncle Luther is James Luther Murry, Solomon's oldest son.
