• Obituary. Funeral services celebrating the life of Acie H. Murry, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Jonesville with Reverend Craig James officiating. Burial will follow, with Masonic Rites, in Bethel Cemetery, Colfax, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Visitation will be observed at the church on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and continue on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Derick Murry, Jesse Reeves, Thomas Reeves, Brad Cockerham, Dino Hunstock and Doyle Sikes.
Acie H. Murry, Jr., 91, of Jonesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in LaSalle General, Jena.
Acie proudly served his country in the United States Navy with the 301st Seabee Battalion. He was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theatre. During his working life he was the owner and operator of his own service repair company in Jonesville.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Jonesville, a member of the Eastern Star and was on the Board and a volunteer for the Red Cross. Acie was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and past Master of Jonesville Four Rivers Lodge. He was a great story teller and a loving father, grandfather and friend who is gone from us and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary McNeely Murry; infant daughter; parents, Acie, Sr. and Ione Thompson Murry; sister, Margaret Murry; brothers, Leroy Murry, Glenn Murry, Dewayne Murry, Earnest Murry and Pat Murry.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Acie H. Murry, III and wife, Millie, Robert J. Murry and wife, Terri; daughter, Virginia Reeves and husband George; three grandsons, Thomas Reeves, Jesse Reeves and Derick Murry; two granddaughters, Yvonne Reeves and Kristy Murry; one great grandson, Triston Murry and a host of other family members and friends.
Acie married Mary McNeely.
