West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Matas Green, 92, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Burial will follow at Farmerville City Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Matas was born on December 20, 1913 in Truxno, LA to Murry and Grace Auger Green, and was called home on February 13. He had three brothers and four sisters.
"Doc" worked in various aspects of construction and leaves a legacy of dedication and excellence. He loved and was deeply devoted to his family and to the Lord. He was a beloved and respected husband, brother, father, papaw and friend. He had a passion for deer hunting, and joyously shared his time and wisdom with many. He was a member of McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. Matas is survived by his adored wife of sixty-seven years, Rachel Parker Green; brother, C.A. Green, and wife Cleolis of Farmerville; sons, Gary Green and wife Nancy, Ronnie Green and wife Sue, all of West Monroe; daughter, Sherry Miller of Palm City, FL; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Matas family extends their deepest gratitude to all the medical professionals and caregivers at the Landmark Nursing Center and Cornerstone Hospital.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Children's Educational Building Fund at McClendon Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
Matas married Rachel Parker, daughter of Samuel Parker and Ella Mae. (Rachel Parker was born on 21 May 1918 in Marion, Union Parish, LA, died on 2 Sep 2007 in West Monroe, Ouachita. LA and was buried in Farmerville City Cemetery, Farmerville, Union, LA.)
