• Obituary: Minden Press, 18 Aug 2006. Charles Ray Murry Sr.
Funeral services for Charles Ray Murry, Sr., 67, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer, with the Reverend Dudley Poda of Holly Springs Baptist Church and the Reverend Brent Shoalmier of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., August 18, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, in Homer.
Mr. Murry was born August 3, 1939 in Dry Prong and passed away on August 15, in Homer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He worked hard and never knew the meaning of the word "quit". He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Lucille Murry; one son, Charles Ray "Chunky" Murry, Jr.; one grandson, Michael Butler; and two brothers, Bobby Murry and Jimmy Murry.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 29 years, Barbara Batton Murry; two daughters, Renee Butler and husband Mike of Minden and Barbara "George" Blair of Smackover, Ark.; and two step-children, Sheri Amiri of Haughton and Ricky Caddy and wife Candy of Ringgold.
Mr. Murry is also survived by his two sisters, Lane Chelette and husband Floyd and Carol Sue Carter and husband Quincy, all of Dry Prong; four brothers, L.E. Murry and wife Sharon of Anderson, Texas, Wayne Murry and wife Kathy of Dale, Texas, Clayton Murry and wife Linda of Haughton and W.D. Murry and wife Paulette of Macedonia, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steven Amiri, C.L. Batton, Jr., Quincy Carter, Floyd Chelette, Billy Ray and Jeff Ray.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Howard Lumber Company in Minden.
