Herman Cottrell, 84, of Midland, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006.
He was born November 4, 1921 to Audie E. Cottrell and Ethel Edwards Cottrell in Davis, Oklahoma.
He was raised in Katie, Oklahoma, and attended school there and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1941.
On December 6, 1941 he married Jo Dean McKey in Yuma, Arizona.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1944 until 1946.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Geology, Herman worked as an independent geologist in Midland for 44 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandchild.
Herman is survived by his wife, Jo Dean Cottrell; son, Mike Cottrell and wife Cheryl; son, Steve Cottrell and wife Carolyn; son, Stan Cottrell and wife Harriett; daughter, Kimberly Shoemaker and husband Randy; sisters: Imogene Curtis and Thelma Holder; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
